Uncontrolled Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

What constitutes "uncontrolled seizures"? Other than the obvious of course. Is it being on multiple medications? Still having 1-3 seizures a year despite multiple medications? My husband says mine are "uncontrolled" because I am on so many medications. But I am still having occasional seizures.

I’m sorry to have to tell you this but the last two people who answered your question are correct. Controlled seizures are just that. You still have epilepsy but no seizures. Un controlled are seizures that are not done away with. I had brain surgery, I’m on three different meds and still have seizures. Mine ate un controlled too

Im on one Medication, and i still have break through seizures. Duel meds dont knock out the other 20% so that would constitute as uncontrollable seizures. The next step is VNS, though it could be very successful, but its only another form of say like a secondary medication. With the VNS new Sentiva system its seems to have a better success rate due to the advancements and dual settings and a computer wireless tablet for future settings by a doctor with no office visits. You could say im an expert on VNS from model 102r and up to latest model 1000 FDA recently approved 10-17

Check with your neurologist to see if you are a candidate for the operation of a Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS). It helps me tremendously.

Although believed to be under control, at times in life, seizures have always come back for me. So, I have uncontrolled seizures. I am very grateful for only minor seizure problems, while buying a 150 year old home and moving in to this eternal project. It definitely provides an area of concentration, which helps in reducing seizures. It would be so nice to state as @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, 1 a year, but have 3 years in reaching 65. May God be with you☺

It also can be stress. Not taking your meds. It can be Depression. You can not be getting sleep like you should. Theres a lot of things it could be. I just can’t name them all right now but I won’t rule out stress.
