People With Anxiety & Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have epilepsy & since you got epilepsy then you ended up with Anxiety? What do you to help yourself calm down & feel more relaxed? I have had epilepsy since I was 8 years old but didn't get Anxiety until around 8 years ago or less.

I used to get them and every time i felt one coming i would sit down in the chair and put the fan on low so the air would hit my face and just breath slowly in and out. Ot really worked for me plus you need to try and not get yourself upset on this cause it only makes it worse. Inhale and exhale slowly and concentrate on good things you have done and you will see that you will beat it everytime it tries to sneak up on you.You got this!

My epilepsy started at birth and so did my anxiety as soon as I could hug Mum’s skirt when there was a simple seizure. We called them “not alrights” until I was 11 and worked out I had epilepsy. Unfortunately I can only recommend you tell your neurologist cos they can prescribe anti anxiety medications. My anxiety is so severe there is limited value in deep relaxation or other behavioural changes. I’ve tried them in clinical based courses believe me.
