For some reason I don't believe it when people say they have been seizure free for years and sometimes months. I can see it if they had surgery. Other than that I would think it would be said keep from being stigmatised anymore. I can be wrong.
I have had epilepsy for 30 years. There is NO cure for epilepsy. I was seizure free for over 20 years and took meds every day and night and still had epilepsy. When I was taken off my med due to side effects, hypothermia, I am now on three separate meds and mostly seizure free, but it has taken 5 years to get there. If someone were to treat me rudely, disrespectfully for having epilepsy, then they are just ignorant and don't deserve to be in my life. Personally, I have never had anyone treat me like that b/c I won't accept it. And, either should any other person that has epilepsy. We are ALL people, we deserve respect as much as any other living human being in this world. God bless
remember we have different types that results in seizures. you have seizures from a crash, a sport injury, an infection, a food illness, a birth injury, and unknown seizures. the list goes on and on. some go years without a seizure and others have every hour.
i had seizures every hour cause by food. i had surgery and i still have seizures every day.
i work at a daycare thing thing and some kid is seizure free if he takes his meds.
No there is no "cure" for epilepsy. People could goes yrs without seizures because the meds are controlling there seizures, then there are others that are uncontrollable and meds just dont help.
I hav been sz free 14 yrs and worked at GM on assenbly line and later became a Electrician now retired after 30 yrs and enjoy life more and yes Dr found right medicine that just came out then and started taking that and got me sz free
I think it just depends how well medications work for you...for me it’s been 46 years of seizures b/c the medications don’t work, for others the meds. work and they can be seizure-free.
