I’m fairly newly diagnosed with left temporal lobe epilepsy after a grand mal seizure in Dec 2015. I’ve had about 6 eegs since then which all show the same activity resulting in the diagnosis. I haven’t had anymore grand mal seizures but am often vague and can feel something coming on where I just faze out for a while
I’m medicatecon 800mg tegretol
My question really is more of an advice query.
Does anyone have any stories they can share or experiences to help me with my diagnosis.

My seizures are active in my left temporal lobe . I had brain surgery in the year of 98’ . My seizure frequency reduced to mild and moderate seizures. I still have seizures on average of one seizure a day. Sometimes I’ll have blackouts and blurry vision .most of the time I don’t know when I Seizure.
I lost track of how many EEG’s I’ve had. Then again, I’ve been diagnosed since I was a baby.
I hope you get things figured out.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member You are Welcome, you could can them in your sleep which makes you tired. You could also have mild ones that dont break through to a full seiz just enough to make you just stare and mess up your concentration.
Thankyou @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, I’m wondering if I’m maybe having seizures through the night while I’m asleep. Some days I just can’t retain any information, other days I’m fine. For example, some days I’ll go into work and forget how to do something I’ve been doing for months and when people are talking to me I’m just not with it fully, like I’m exhausted.
I have left temporal lobe epilepsy with complex partial seizures. I have had this all my life. I swing my rt arm all over, stare, unable to talk normal, I have had a hard time breathing, I get tired to 2-3 hrs afterwards.
I dont remember things either when my seizures are active. left temporal lobe is where are memory comes from. so the memory problem is all normal. There are times I cant remember things for days depending on how strong the seizure was.
Thanks everyone.
I can definitely pin point the partials because I feel them coming on, like as if I’m about to have a panic attack then just stare for a while not being able to do move or communicate with anyone.
My worry is the days that doesn’t happen yet I’m still really forgetful. To the point I’m forgetting how to do my job or an appointment I’ve made. And People talk to me I just don’t communicate well. I feel like I have something else rather than epilepsy because I haven’t had a lot of seizures yet my brain scans always show something wrong in that part of my brain. Like Alzheimer’s or dimentia?
I know these questions may sound naive, I’m just not getting much info from my neurologist and I live so far away from any medical centres it’s hard to find a new dr.
