Problems Walking Standing In Morning?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My non-verbal spec needs daughter, has had mornings when she cannot stand or walk for many hours. Would like to know if others have experience this, and what are the symptoms. Is it from seizure activity during night?

She did have one dose increased last May when she was hospitalized. I will look into the Foundation, maybe they can help me find other specialist.
Thanks!

Your welcome . It’s a good idea to get her levels checked. Do you know if if the Dr. Increased her bedtime meds ? Then you for surely may want to talk with the Dr. to get her meds reduced .

If you don’t think that this Dr. Is helping much , you may want to try and find an Epileptologist . Maybe get a hold of the Epilepsy Foundation in your state.

Another thing I thought maybe possible, is if she’s seizuring while asleep, it may also cause her to loose to fall .

To reitorate what you're saying, I've only had gran mal seizure since I was young, and I don't know when they are approaching.
My meds were wrong, and I started having them worse after my 2nd daughter. My hubby said that he can tell when one is coming because I have a blank stare, act disoriented, don't know what's going on, then it hits. They typically last 10 minutes, with a 15-20 minute recovery.
Gran-Mal seizure with myself always have severe convulsions, loss of bodily fluids, choking, etc. Very scary for all involved. The only medication that worked and still does today for me is Topomax therapy with Nuerotin. There was never epilepsy in my family, so no one knows how or why I got these. Hope this helps whomever reads it.

She's most likely having "Nocturnal Seizures" It is a night time seizure where you fall asleep an seize at the same time. You can only feel it as your falling asleep when your in your 20's like I am now I'm 21, I believe I also felt it in my teenager years... What a nocturnal seizure is, Is a basic seizure but it takes full effect on the body while your sleeping an you can't tell anything at all because she is sleeping an your body is relaxed. I have every seizure except grand mails since I was 2, So I have experienced them all, An she also can be overdosed as well like he said, If they are happening for hours she's most likely overdosed an needs checked. I have been overdosed and umderdosed as well it goes both ways with us, So you might wanna visit the neurologist an have a peek at her med levels. Also if she's been on the same med for too long it would not harm her to switch medication, Because after a while that medication she is on will not even t her body properly on will be no good use to her. So it's best to question what's good for her an the medication she takes. I started at age 2 like said, An I went from hours of seizures to couple minutes every few weeks... So feel free to question anything I'll be around here, Now that I found this site.

I’m sorry to hear that . There are a few things that may cause this .

The worst scenario is, that she is being overdosed. It doesn’t always have to be the levels of the meds. Her body could just be ejecting it for some reason. I had that trouble when I was put on Vimpat. I was a few weeks in and I started feeling overdose and couldn’t walk . I was bedrested that night.

It maybe a side effect from her meds. She could also be blacking out, blur visions , or if anything like me , I can’t balance well after waking up. I’m always catching the Wall , when I get up too soon. I started to sit in bed for awhile until I think I’m awake enough to balance
