Crying Fits
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a really bad day yesterday. Had an awful crying fit. I have done this on occasion, bit it is so humiliating. Can't stop myself. Does this go along with seizures? Medications? I can either do this after i have a full blown seizure or by itself when i get overwhelmed. So sick and tired of it. Especially when no big seizure to go along with it. I think it is more embarrising. Sorry if any words are misspelled. I am terribly dependant on spell check now.

It has to do with seizures only. And if I get overwhelmed or too many things going on at one time.

Saw my doctor yesterday. Told him about it. Husband was with me. My husband and my doctor both agreed I just needed a good cry to get it out of my system. I usually cry bad right after a big seizure, but it waited a week before hitting me. Plus added stress didn't help on the bus. I have felt pretty good ever since that day. Nothing has changed other than not being on the blood mobile. Still worry about job security. I'm assigned to the center, but there are times that I HAVE to go on the bus. We have to be flexible and work anytime we are asked to. I have intermittent FMLA, but only 24 hours in a six month period. After that there is no job protection.

Plus if u google, most antiepileptic drugs.Google most of time is only 40% accurate. They all seem to have an emotional side effect. Ive been on in the past on phenobarbital Dilantin Tegretol Tegretol XR Zonogram Keppra and Lamictal which iam on now, and they all seem to trigger an emotional side effect. Some more than others

I am very emotional, i can cry at the drop of the hat. Im sure it has alot to do with antiepileptic drugs, or just epilepsy in General. Sometimes I can cry more than other times, depending on the stress level, from life, meds, so its hard to figure out the commen denominator, so the i feel the best is dont try to figure it out. It will too pass. At one time in my life, most likley do to all that life was throwing at me at that time. I was crying all the time, bad I have to excuse myself, and seemed never ending, its still there but nothing compared to that time in life. But if u cry, and u dont know if it from sadness or happiness, or if u dont know at all, try not to stress yourself out cause remember it too will pass.
