My doctor and I hope that I can have the laser ablation surgery since I am a really good candidate for it. My seizures come from a small isolated place, so laser treatment is preferred over other surgeries. I don't know what insurance company covers it. I hope I can find some way to have this surgery. I have been through a four month appeal process with Aetna, and they will not cover it. I'm not giving up though.
Try contacting Aetna and getting a case manager assigned to you. Sometimes they can find different ways to get procedures, medications, etc. approved—they can also talk to physicians who work with Aetna that may be able to help in some way...good luck with everything!!
they have different kinds of Aetna plans. i would say with Aetna, or any mayor insurance plans, you have the wrong insurance plan. with Aetna, i know they have a lot of options and even more plans. read your plan and terms. you might have a loop hole you can use.
talk to the epilepsy foundation. they might be able to help
