Does Starting To Have Mild Seizures Mean That My Daughter Will Stop Having Seizures In Future?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. Until last June every seizure she had, had been status epilepticus. But last August, she had very mild seizure which lasted only a few seconds. Does that mean that my daughter will stop having seizures in future?

Having mild seizures won’t mean that your daughter won’t still have Epilepsy. She could be seizure free, from control of the meds and still have her Epilepsy condition.

Type Of Seizure
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone ever experienced a non-epileptic seizure ? I'm not certain that I have these because I haven't been diagnosed. I've done research though on how different types of stress can be a trigger for a seizure. Things like anxiety, depression, or other mental issues. If anyone has ever experienced these, any imput that you have is greatly appreciated. I think I'm going to start by doing just some general therapies like meditation or yoga, I'm sure there are other things that can be used as… read more

AED Meds Worsening Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone . Has any of you had a bad experience with ADE meds, meaning that they end up worsening the seizure activity instead of reducing it. I'm already at the 3rd med that did this and I'm already starting to get worried. I know that worsening seizures is a side effect for all antiepileptic meds, why that happens is beyond my comprehension. Anyway I know this is a rather rare side effect, for example in lamotrigine it's a 1/10000 cases incidence which is very rare but... what the hell… read more

Has Your Neurologist Ever Told You That Heat And Humidity Do Not Directly Trigger Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I ask because this is exactly what my neurologist told me today and explained. If you get overheated, then blood pressure rises and the symptom is feeling faint/light headed. When blood pressure gets too high, then a seizure can be triggered.

I do not care that he explains that heat and humidity do NOT directly trigger a seizure, because all that is significant to me that the seizure still happens. I have more seizures during the summer than the three other seasons combined. And climate… read more

Fitness Causing Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My question today is quite simple. How can I continue doing sports and not have seizures? I want to stay in good shape which started requiring some exercises with small weights/ dumbbells

However I noticed that some time after I work out I have seizures… what is the way to find out how much I can exercise without provoking my seizures? Any ideas on that?
