@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - your B6, and B12 levels in your blood. No one told me when I started my meds that they essentially block the natural intake of B6/12 ( through fish , liver etc). It really wreaked havoc emotionally. I am generally a "roll with it" kind of person but I just kept sinking so to speak. The neurologist decided to check my levels and found them to be very low. I now take vitamins each day and that has helped tremendously.
If you are already feeling depressed, low levels can make it worse.
I dont know about everyone else, but my life got turned upside-down when my seizures came back. I went from a well paid job, thinking of starting a family having just bought a home with my partner... to my temporary contract being immediatley suspended, fighting to see a neurologist, fighting to get the benefits i was entitled to, fighting then to get a neurologist who wasn’t a misogynist, battleung to find a medication that had bearable side effects, and now i’m currently trying to het back into work after years signed off... who wouldn’t get depressed?!?!!! Not looking for sympathy, things are getting better and my seizures are controlled, so i’m lucky. But no long term health condition makes life easier!!!
Yeah I have had a hard time with depression and I didn't want to get on more medication so I spoke with my neurologist and he suggested speaking with a professional about my thoughts and starting an exercise routine...I got to tell you it's really working. If it stops working though I would go back and speak with my doctor about trying something else.
I live with depression and anxiety it comes with having epilepsy sometimes. I take medication fore both.
Oh god no I know it can be tough but I remind myself the reason I get depressed is because of how much I enjoyed living. So that’s what I hope for & for you as well. Maybe one day we can feel that again.. shoot you’re young they make breakthroughs all the time in medicine. Just keep trying!
