We just found out I'm pregnant! We're very excited, but I'm pretty nervous because I had a seizure in recovery after the birth of my son. Just curious if anyone is pregnant and how it is going? What are you doing that is useful during this changing time?
I'm on low doses of @Lamictal and @Keppra.
Keep taking your meds while pregnant don't come off them at all you will put yourself in more danger!
You will be scanned more often to make sure you and baby are ok and baby is developing as it should be. (I have 3 boys 11,9,7)
My epilepsy is hormonal so I did have 3 seizures in each of my pregnancies I'm not going to lie but I went straight to hospital and got baby checked and myself they were mainly at the beginning of each trimester.
If your epilepsy is heridatry then at the first sign of any seizure baby will be checked.
Mine isn't but my eldest had a seizure at 2yrs and they checked him straight away he hasn't had one since.
Also if you are worried of the stress of labour you can opt for a c-section. I did so I knew me and my babies would be fine and monitored all the way through. I was scanned all the way up to 37 weeks.
I had twins in 2014, I stayed on my meds the entire time, they were born premature but no epilepsy or major health issues.
I also opted for a c- section with my first. The pregnancy was easy as pie, nothing complicated, just afterwards.
This is one of my biggest fears.
1) Is it safe to take my meds while pregnant?
2) Will being pregnant cause me to have a seizure?
3) They say my epilepsy is heriditary.
