I had a temporal lobectomy 3 weeks ago. My scar is basically healed but the skin itself is still numb to me completely. Did anyone have a similar feeling post op? Will feelings ever return to the area of skin they cut?
I had this surgery several years ago. It was my experience that normal feelings do come back. I had a headache for a long time but that went. Like you I went through a period of anxiety when I thought normal feelings would not return. They did return.
I didn't have a lobectomy,. I had surgery to implant a NeuroPace but for all of my scars the numbess went away after 6 months..
After my brain surgery , the area they had opened up and stitched back up had a numb feeling for awhile , but went away and got back the sensation and feelings back. Then discovered is was more sensitive than it was before the surgery. Today it’s still a little sensitive, but not as sensitive like it was way back then.
I had surgery in the same area & it's a big ? mark. It's been over 13 years now & I feel it get sensitive at times. Don't worry it's normal.
During the surgery they cut through the nerves to get into the skull to perform the operation. The nerve cells need to regrow, and that will be around 1mm a month. Don't worry, I'm starting to get the feeling back in my head too :)
