Anyone Had An Ambulatory EEG?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neurologist suggested I have one of these done, I don't do well sitting in the hospital for days on end, which was proven when they had me do 3 day video EEGs already this year. I was curious if anyone had ever had one done, and did it make it difficult to go about your daily life? I imagine showering will pretty much be out of the question, and I am anticipating a lot of strange looks whenever I go out in public

Whenever you have these done it is done throughout a 24 hour period of your normal activities and they record your brain activities throughout the night as you sleep and it focuses on the area of the brain where the seizure is caused from. The EEG records the stimulation in the brain where it is the most active, my suggestion is to keep a record of what may cause you to into one or go into one and then you will know what to avoid. These are called : TRIGGERS.
Just like firing a gun, you have to avoid these so you don't get hurt.

Wow. 10 days is a long time. We've only done that long in a hospital setting. It's great that they can do ambulatory now. In that case, I say buy yourself a hat and put your confidence forward. Don't let some wires and wrap keep you from 10 days of your life.
