I'm a full-time solo parent to 2 young boy's we live alone with no family or support getting to places is difficult as we use public transportation as main mode of transportation but we do ok.

Have you tried to talk to WINZ or The Social welfare ??. As I have a niece who is in the same position and she gets an amazing amount of support through them !!
