Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm having the VNS procedure this week and am wondering about the recovery. Expected time needed to take off work, pain, independence, etc.

For me the surgery was a in and out procedure. And recovery was fast for me.

About 9 months ago so far hasn't really helped although I'm still at a low "dosage". I see an epileptologist so it only has been adjusted twice since it's hard to get an appointment. I still hold out hope that it will eventually help

Thanks. How long ago did you have the implant and has it worked well for you?

Mine was pretty easy after a couple days I was back to normal. I never really had any pain after surgery never took anything they gave me for it. Obviously everyone is different I've also heard the surgeon makes a difference
