Wondering If Anyone Else Has Seizures Only In The Morning?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 13 year old son has had 7 seizures since his first seizure on March 2016. Had two that year. Then went 8mths seizure free with no meds. This year he has had 5. He seems to only have them in the morning between 8am and 11 am. Wondering if anyone else has seizures only in the am, a couple hours after waking up?

My complex partial seizures came back after several months of being seizure-free, but they are now happening typically either when I'm getting tired or, more often, at some point shortly after I've woken up from sleeping -- either after sleeping or after a daytime nap. I use a tracking app and it has a pie chart that makes it pretty easy to tell what times most of my seizures are happening.

all of my daughters seizures have happened in the morning or a little bit after waking up. She takes her meds at 9 pm and 9 am. her first seizure was March 10, 2019 and she totaled her car. Her latest seizure was just yesterday morning at her boyfriends house. She has had 7 total seizures since March 10, 2019 and they have all taken place in the morning

I had 6 months seizure free, it was like a vacation. But my doc said stay on the meds.

Till the age of 13, I only had my seizures at the breakfast table! While having my cornflakes - suddenly I would get my seizure - flashing lights in my eyes! I would shout out - "blinker", rub my eyes till they disappeared and then carried on like normal. Than after my tonic clonic came at 13, and they changed my tablets, things changed.

Try waking him up to take his meds an hour or so before actually waking up, that way the meds have time to get in his system before everything ramps up so-to-speak. Hope this helps!
