Does This Sound Like A Seizure? Teeth Chattering While Sleeping
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I think I may have just had a seizure while sleeping. I've been known to have nocturnals before but unfortunately my boyfriend was not here to witness it. I'm not sure I'll be able to eat/chew anything for a while. I also have a sore on my lip. I feel very tired, all my brain wants to do is go back to sleep. All the blankets were… read more

Hailey has had this exact seizure in her sleep before. She had sores in her mouth after and a bite on her tongue. She also had a blown blood vessel in her eye. She was groggy for the next day. She was on trileptal at the time and an adjustment to the meds helped. Have you had any triggers lately? Lack of sleep? Illness? Stress? Heat?

During a grandmal seizure you can often clench your jaw down really hard. the chattering could've been convulsing. I have often bit the inside of my mouth, during a bad seizure. A seizure that happens in your sleep can leave you feeling like you haven't slept and need to go back to bed.
