A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all,

We want to have another baby sometime in the next year or two. Has anyone taken these meds while pregnant? My neurologist has said I need to be on meds for the rest of my life. :-( I'm worried about taking them while preggo...

Returning To Work After Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,
I have been on maternity leave then on disability for an addition 4 months. I have had two major tonic clonic seizures during sleep since being on leave and am now back on meds. I am still having simple partial seizures during sleep. I have a job that requires me to drive all day and sometimes transport children by myself. Should I disclose the new seizures and my history of epilepsy to my job before returning in 2 weeks? I don't want to lose my job or my benefits I have a newborn son.

How To Bring Up Suggestions To Your Doctor?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with puedoseizures and epilepsy in 2014 put on Keppra and Topamax. I saw little improvement. Ive had time to think through those diagnosis and come to a realzation that my seizure like events may have always been puedo due to a tramatic event I sustained at age 15. Im wondering how i bring up my thoughts on this matter to a doctor? Do I talk with my neruologist or my psychiatrist?

Does Your Seizure Medicine/s Make Your Teeth/gums Bleed?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I brush my teeth 2x a day, but lately, I've noticed bleeding in my mouth & when I spit. I went to the dentist & she said there's nothing wrong with my teeth, no cavities or anything. I asked her why I get blood in my mouth & she said it might be my seizure medications.

I don’t think it is really very uncommon for a person’s gums to bleed. I think it really may depend on the medication, and how hard a person really brushes their teeth 🦷. So when You do don’t push… read more

Does Anyone Else Suffer From Anxiety?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since being diagnosed with epilepsy I have developed anxiety. Some days I can't even leave the house and it makes me feel horrible. I'm a totally different person now and I find it hard to talk to people. I have to force myself to go out for my daughters sake, but feel so drained afterwards that it can take a full day to recharge my batteries. I don't really have any friends as the ones I did have kind of abandoned me when I didn't leave the house for a few years. I'm scared to go to the doctors… read more
