I have tried Tegretol but it did not work for me. Now I take Zonegram . But I still have memory loss every since seizures began. I have lost many memories. My doctor says they could come back the AMA just doesn't know enough about it.

I was on Tegretol with the same problem many years ago. I approached my doctor and told her straight why is this happening? Im not feeling myself at all! A week later she called for me put me in hospital for 8 days removing the tegretol and put me on Rivitrol 2mg twice daily. Morning at 4:50 and again at 16:50 for the 12 hour gap. 3 days there after I was feeling a different person. Pllease select yourself 1 doctor and obey just what she or he says.

It's quite normal for an epileptic to have memory loss since the seizures will damage the memory if they're coming right from the area of the brain where memory function is, otherwise sometimes some meds might just slow it down slightly....? ....but I suffer from short term (not long term) memory loss, so I write a lot of things down now when needed, and always put things back in their place around the house so that I can find them again since when you just drop things here or there - you'll forget where you've put them!!!

I am on the same medication and i have been on it since October last year. I have been on epilim and various other drugs as well over the years. In the past 6 months i feel i suffer with stringing my words together alot more than i previously have done. I have to really think about what i am going to say and then sometimes i just cant remember the words to use. Its not something i have discussed with my doctors as i didnt think it was related, but after reading all of this...is it possible that it is? will it only get worse?
