They may do the GRID Test along with the EEG. The Grid will map exactly where your seizures are starting from and where they end in your brain. Once they have that mapped out they will also know what area of the brain they will be working on.
I had a partial left temporal lobe in 97 then the rest of the left temporal lobe removed in 2012. Ask them about scar tissue build up? If in any case, they will be any? Are they going to do the whole left temporal lobe or just partial. Just the scar tissue can cause problems. I am not trying to scare you. I am trying to forewarn you.
I had my right temporal lobe removed but it didn't really help with my seizures it was really infected by my seizures so that's why I had to get it removed otherwise I have a VNS which really helps. God Bless an lots of hugs an prayers
Bring a few things to keep yourself entertained. Things like a puzzle book, a IPad or Smart phone, and if you like drawing or writing a journal or diarie book. If you like music you may want to bring a radio. Play cards was alway good for me. If you enjoy reading , then bring a few of your favorite books or magazines.
I had my first in 97, and had a stroke. Had to relearn everything, talk, walk, read, write, thank God I was 17. So, it didn't take that long. However, I still have some side effects from that but I don't let let pull me down. In 2012, I had the rest of my left temporal lobe removed and I couldn't listen to music for 4 years after the surgery or anything loud. My head was pounding constantly, everything was way to loud. The epilepsy foundation of Pittsburgh heard something about the daith piercing and they told me it would help with seizures and migraines. I said I will be a lab rat for something that small. I am now listening to music again. It stopped my migraines.
