Trokendi Xr, Klonapin And I Also Take Adderall. Anyone Know If This Combo Is Ok?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have complex partial seizures, 400mg Trokendi xr 2×aday, 2mg klonapin 3×aday, and 20mg Adderall ir 2×aday. Now the doctor wants me on Vimpat but im to afraid to start it. To many meds. I still have auras often most of the time my mom or boyfriend will hold me and talk to me to get me out of it before it goes into a seizure but then sometimes speaking to me doesn't work and im in a seizure. Are these combinations that i take ok? Or even safe? Please help.

Great you're trying to educate yourself abt your state like getting ideas, info like here
On Team.Getting info abt yourself,sz meds, between will be a great help.I'd go a step
further. Get ideas of how my current meds work .Ask my pharmacist if the drugs are
compatible.Learn abt other possible ways now available to control sz besides, swalllowing
still another pill.Taking both my activity since last visit and questions abt other ways to
get sz control.Gathering the info from my education and his opinion I would make my decision
as how I want my body treated to try ro get sz control. I would return to him asking his thoughts about the treatment I liked.
I would then get a second opinion before doing anything, While
this would be alot of work it would be shorter than taking still another pill( esp if I was taking 4 now with
out success)and be,subjected to still more
side effects and posiibliy not get control and have to try something else..I'd investigate things like
the latest VNS modlel, brain pacemaker and neurofeed back even surgery first. I wouldnt
disregard my neuro but I wouldnt feel he has the possible solution to be considered.
I must not even wonder abt his proposal the only possible solution is the another pill thing to be...
considered therefore I should accept it with out a thought..

You didnt mention meds. Do you take any? I had temporal ectomy for control of my simple &complex sz. Unsuccessful. Am I right your surgery wasnt effective? You describe having VNS after. Have you heard of the lastest VNS model? It senses the changes in the heart prior to a sz(many dont even know there is some)
gives an extra charge then and overts even the begining of a sz.

I did recently go to a new nurologist 3mths ago for another opinion. Mind me saying I'm with the epilepsy foundation and they choose my doctors and how many times im allowed to go for check up's due to they're founding. Which I get 4 visits a year. It really is stressful. I only seen the doctor once and now when I have an appointment I see the practitioner and she takes down anything new that's going on with me since last visit a I ask her these questions about my meds then she relays all information to my doctor. He has 2 offices in my county. They have in the computer a list of meds im on.
