Hi, just wanted to ask the community for any tips on losing weight when your medication can make you gain weight. I go to the gym or swimming for 5 days a week but weight loss is so slow. Has anyone in a similar situation have any tips to share on exercise or diet?
I hear you there!!! My medication is to blame for my overweight! Fortunately I am off a lot of meds but have found I cannot tolerate foods high in FODMAPS (High energy/sugar dense foods Eg. processed, artificially sweetened, produced, gluten containing foods) ANYMORE. I feel long term medication use is to blame for my weight GAIN, FOOD INTOLERANCES (In that my body does not require or has been overworked digesting my medications over the years that it does not have the energy/ nutrition/tolerance to digest many High FODMAP foods) ANYWAY TO THE POINT OF WEIGHTLOSS... When I was on more anticonvulsants (up to 3-4 types) I found Walking, Bikeriding, Weightlifting PUMP classes (provided you take it careful and do not injure your shoulder like I did) to be the best for weight loss and toning. As I got older I found YOGA TO BE AMAZING IN TONIING, STRENGTHENING, RELAXING, STRESS PREVENTION, MINDFULNESS & THUS AIDING IN SEIZURE PREVENTION, CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT FOR OVERALL HEALTH, CLARITY AND WELLBEING !!!! Drink plenty of water and avoid Junk, processed, unnatural foods. Eat 2 pieces of fruit per day and lots of vegetables (6+ serves I think)!!!!
