Calcuim And D3
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do any of you females take 1200mg calcium with D3? When i was on 600mg i was fine but dr upped to to 1200 a day and since then I am constantly overly tired. Will this go away? My bones are weak is the reason

I am on the same regiment only mine has magnesium in it so it's calcium D3 and magnesium and zinc I take it 3 to 4 times a day because you have to always check the T3 on the back and how much magnesium you are getting why can I only get 600 milligrams or 500 milligrams of D3 or calcium you may be getting tired because the calcium and this week might be higher than what you need but your bones need that more than you do mine were weak and Halloween out and they put me on a drip 4 every two years 4 three years in a row three years in a row and then they tested a bone density and it came out great now I'm just maintaining it if you have to get the calcium separately and the D3 separate make sure you stick to the calcium 1200 to 1500 per day the D3 check with your doctor on that if it take off so to me it's from all my medications not a whole lot of other things and not being able to move a lot cause I get light-headed and really dizzy sometimes when I get up and move a lot or I lose my balance so that's the best I can do also talk to a nutritionist they might be able to help you a lot more even what you can do with your food to improve your intake of a better diet so you're not taking the cows and you're eating it like with broccoli and other things like that good luck. Have a seizure free day

In September I had a seizure when I was coming out of the shower and broke my lower leg (fibula). It took a long time to heal so my doctor ordered a Vitamin D level on me and it was very low. So now I take 5000 units of Vitamin D3 a day.

There a many meds that use vitamins and minerals to work . You can ask your pharmacist what extras you need to take. I can't get enough vitamin D so I take 5000 units a day

I broke my lower leg when I had a seizure coming out of the shower. It took a long time to heal so the doctor ordered a Vitamin D level. It was 16.9 and the normal range is 30-80. The doctor prescribed Vitamin D2 and D3 to help strengthen my bones. I am tired anyway from my anti-seizure meds so I can't tell if the Vitamins make me more tired but I wonder if the anti-seizure meds lower Vitamin D levels and/or Calcium.
I take Lamotrigine and Zonisamide.
