A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neurologist is trying to say I have Tourettes Syndrome. But the neourologist I see is very annoying!! Because, He kept on changing his mind saying "Oh you don't have epilepsy." Then saying I do. Then saying things like "Oh you have schizophrenia".Then changing his mind and now I apparently have tourettes. I understand that he has to research every possibility that causes my seizures. But, instead of him saying 'Oh there's a possibility that..'
He says 'You have!' Which to me sounds like I do… read more

Hi, immediately be referred to an Epileptologist I you may have NEA (non epileptic seizure attacks). After 5 years of my seizures I was referred two months ago and the Epileptologist has already confirmed I do have seizures but I have NEA. It confused me a little but after research I understand so they weaning me off of anti epileptic and putting me on anti depressants as they think it's stressed related and I am extremely stressful and have high anxiety caused by my attacks

They are both Disabilities and they are both nurological and yes they will effect each other which again you must add to your PIP appeal this will show you have more than one disability to contend with and will strengthen your case

A) get a second opinion
B) change your neurologist seeing as it doesn't know what is actually wrong

I get myoclonic seizures but I sometimes also get hiccups and shakes throughout the day and I sometimes wonder if it could be related to tourettes.
As for your neurologist.... I agree with the others I definitely would try to get into another neurologist and get a second opinion. Definitely keep us updated if you find out there's a link to tourettes syndrome! Best of luck
