Hi folks. I'm hoping to see if anyone here has or has known of the trouble I'm having. I just got the implant put in 2 weeks ago. I wasn't too impressed with the surgeons handy work and can't help but think he was in a rush. My concern is mainly the wire lead. It feels as tight as a banjo string going from the protruding device in my chest up to the left side of my adams apple where it fades into flesh. The wire pushes the skin out about 3/8 inch in the neck. I seen the surgeon late last week… read more
I thank all of you for your input on this. I unfortunately haven't found anyone else who has had a poor installation, though fortunately it doesn't happen to many people. It was turned on yesterday and it does send the timed charge that can be felt. I'm hoping it stays together long enough in my body to find out if it makes a difference in seizure activity. I think I will contact cyberonics to let them know they will have a product fail prematurely as I'm sure they don't want their name smudged. The surgeon that did my install should really be told by someone other than just me that he needs to follow instructions better. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member thank you for the advice on that.
I have a VNS and I only know it's there when it turns on. there's no tightness . But it does make me hores when it turns on sometimes i'm unable to speak until it turns of which is around 30 seconds.
Your welcome Erik.. You may want to see if your Dr. Has any good advice too . That just isn't right.
Randy, thank you so much for letting me know that. I can't find any info on the internet to see if it is common. Don't even know what to type. I'd suspect there's plenty of wire on both ends. I don't mean to sound like a nut, but I had a thought of trapping it with a board and yanking my head around to get some slack in it. Any thoughts? I'm 6' 180lb just kinda normal size guy. Surgeon said I wouldn't see it if I gained 50-100lb but not interested on purpose. Appreciate you alot for confirming my suspicion that it shouldn't be like that.
Your surgeons did a horrible job. I can bend my neck in all directions and I can't the wire unless I were to run my fingers up my neck and feel it.
