Ketogenic Diet?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone tried the Ketogenic diet? If so what was the success rate for stopping seizures? Any other pros or cons? Thanks!

I've been on keto for over two years now and would only recommend it as a last resort. It is really difficult and especially as someone in my 20's it has caused me a lot of social anxiety because it makes going out with friends difficult. I'm not sure how much it is helping as I am also on meds. However, I'm weary of getting off it. In other words, try and just enjoy food as much as you can!

I tried the Modified Atkins diet which was what I researched a similar workable alternative for adults. I did it as a last ditch effort before surgery. It failed. My epileptologist told me a new Ketogenic version is undergoing trials which will be a pill taken with a balanced diet I should switch to in the interim. I reasearched it and because I tried the modified Atkins diet am unqualified to try it until it's approved
