Briviact
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone tried the new medication, Briviact?
I've been told it's an 'improved' version of Keppra.

I was on it and it didn't work. Thankfully, 8 have been off it since January.

Improved version of Keppra! Yes! Works without the side effects - so they say! Today is my first day off 14+ years of regular Keppra! And starting my 9th week on Briviact. Now 50mg bd. Feeling better for it already. But GP can't yet prescribe it - as it is still a red drug! Keppra rage seems to have been mightily reduced!

I'm on briviact and have been since January of this year like you say it's the new keppra though getting prescriptions for it from my local gp is not poss as they don't know about it so I have to get it from the epilepsy society chelfont ! I take 50mg morning and night and there are no side effects apart from hassel of gp lol good luck

I was on Keppra for 14 years - with horrendous Keppra rage! I have now been on Briviact for two years - and I have found it much better! I was very wary of trying it, but my experience of Keppra meant that anything would be better! I have found it a lot better. The Keppra rage is gone, the main side effect for me is feeling thick headed and heavy bodied and a bit tired and doped. But that's a lot better than the Keppra rage I had! My opinion - it is a lot better than Keppra was! The best thing about Keppra for me was - it was the quickest drug to come off - 8 weeks weaning off it after 14 years on it!

I've switched from Keppra to briviact then back to Keppra before going to depakote. During the keppra briviact stint, I've had uncontrollable rage and constant seizures. I now have two felonies from a very bad night of rage with my wife and I don't remember hardly any of that night. Luckily for me we are still married, because she knows that wasn't her husband that night or the months leading up to it during the doctors trial and error on finding the right medication and dosages for me.
