Is My Dizzynes Caused By My Seizure Meds?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am currently on trileptal 900mg and fycompa 6mg.
I read on fycompa.com that trileptal and fycompa interact with each other.
I also read that both trileptal and fycompa cause dizzyness.
when I was on trileptal, I didn't hve dizzyness, but once my docter added fycompa I felt dizzy.
in your opinion
are the drugs interacting? is it just a side effect of fycompa, is it overmedication? or anything else?
I do not have the chance to talk to my neuro for awhile
so any advice/ ideas help

It's always possible the Drugs interact with one another. What you consume also. Doctor/Neurologist's take that into concern when Prescribing.. ...or at least are supposed to.

Sorry you're dizzy. I know just how frustrating that can be. Dizziness is a side effect that hits me both on dose increases and decreases. For me, it can take a week or more to resolve, depending upon the size of the dose change. My last dose change caused problems for about 6 weeks. Hang in there!!

PS - "dizzynes" - I like it!! :)

It could be a reaction between the drugs or you maybe allergic to fycompa. If you don't have a chance to speak with your neurologist for a bit you can try going into the pharmacy and speak to the lead pharmacist and see if they have any information about the drugs.

Don't make any changes without talking to your doctor first and don't believe everything you read off the internet. If it gets really bad before then go into urgent care.

Only you can tell what the feelings/changes are in your body as you add or take out different medications. Keep track of the symptoms, timing, what you eat...everything. Trust your instincts.
