Tongue Biting
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I often bite my tongue during nocturnal tc seizures and I just wanted to know if there's a safe way to prevent this happening? Mouth guards and such?

You can get mouth guards and use them but you would probably always have to wear them as most epileptics dont know when they are going to have a seizure, I find this embarrassing which is why I don't wear them much. Another thing I find easiest to do is to make sure you have bonjela and when you bite your tongue or the inside of your mouth I use this to cover any areas I have bitten and although it will sting like mad when you first put it on, later on it will ease slightly and by the next day you will find most of the pain has gone.
