A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been taking Oxcarbazephine for a couple months now and I have a seizure about every three months.

I was taking it and still had seizures. My doctor finally took me off of it and put me on Onfi. Only 1 seizure since Sept! :)

Update: My medicine is now up to 750mg of Oxcarbazephine. I'm pregnant and my levels were low so they upped that. I've now been seizure free since April 23.

I've just begin taking Oxcarbazepine, for 2 weeks now in combination with Vimpat and its the first 2 weeks this month that I have been seizure free. Is is possible that you need another medication in combination with Oxcarbazepine in order to get its full effects? Just a suggestion.

I take it now and did prior to my brain surgery, to be honest it's never worked for me. Have a new neurologist and he put me on it due to my Medicaid never paying for newer meds. But it still doesn't work. Vimpat is much better! Less side effects too.
