Seizures/Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello, my son had his first tonic clonic seizure when he was 1yr 9months old, I don't know what cause his having seizure as he didn't have any infection and he had no temperature whatsoever, his second seizure was few month later, in beginning of May, day after his 2nd birthday, again he had no temperature or infection, he wasn't ill at all. He then had eeg which was fine. They tried doing MRI under sedation but it didn't work and they were unable to do that. We are now waiting for appointment… read more

my husband says it depends on if there was a cause for the seizures. ie fast temp. change. if there was not a specific cause and more than one seizure occurred, it could be considered epilepsy.

My daughters situation a little different. Started with nocturnal seizures about 2 years ago and about 6 to 7 months apart. However in the past three months 2 clusters of 2 seizures. First one whilst asleep second whilst awake. All tonic clonic. She is now 11 years old. Hoping that they don't get closer together. She is obviously very scared especially since she has been awake. Luckily she has always been laying down when they have occurred so no damage. However waiting for the day that she is standing expect that she will hurt herself. We are working on her trying to remember any small signs. She has had one eeg and the next one is scheduled for February.

One seizure can tell if have epilepsy. Some might not get it due to infections or fevers it could be either genetic or once off. Like 3 family relatives of mine had a once off two of those 3 were pregnant and 1 had an infection in stomach. My form is genetic my great grandmother had it. So it could be a once off thing. Please God it's a once off for your son and not genetic prayers and taughts with you and yours and hopefully it's a once off thing.
