My son been taking generic keppra for 2 months and dr doesn't think it's caused by meds which pharmacy says different. Has anyone experienced this?
In the first 4 to 6 monthes of taking generic Keppra I had many strange symptoms that I had never experienced before. One was I would experience fairly strong muscle weaknes. Also I would experience something I can only describe as a kind of anxiety attack that I had never experienced before. They say sometimes the medications can also change the way someone experiences there seizures. I know it's hard but it can take monthes for our body's to adjust to our medications and it can take people time to get used to unwanted side affects. After six monthes my symptoms did start diminishing making things a little easier.
Good luck to your son and you in controlling his seizures. I think many people with epilepsy can find decent seizure controll but it seems to be even more difficult to eliminate side affects from medication.
Yes it is I felt numbing and tingling throughout my legs and arms when the neurologist tried to put me on Keppra when he changed it to another medicine I still wasn't happy because even that one had discomforting side effects but nothing is more bothersome than that Keppra for me it also made me very irritable and have visions of things that were not there. Yes it does make you weak too. Have a spurt of energy and suddenly lose energy just as quickly as you got it. It's not good for him to be on that.
I just got changed to the generic Keppra after a day or two I found myself very irritable and very down. It lasted for a couple when I realized what was going on. Now I have pretty much leveled out and feel peaceful again. I don't think I will continue the generic once I finish these pills. I don't want to deal with different form of this generic. I will go back to the name brand Keppra. I don't know if my constant diarrhea is from my Keppra or not. If I keep my protien high my diarrhea stays in control. If not it gets worse and I will have a siezure My doctor knows but does not know what to do. I'm looking for a specialist that can help me figure it out. But sofar nothing.
Also it was recommended to me by my neurologist to take a vitamin B6 supplement. And I believe that has helped me a lot with common Keppra side affects like irritability and many others. Good luck and stay strong!
I doubt it, Keppra normally does not have such issues, hand numbness and weakness can be a variety of issues, have Dr start with a CT or MRI of the head make sure it is nothing there causing it then look into it being a nerve in the arm or neck good luck
