Should I Try Treatment Again?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have tried so many meds, brain surgery, diet, exercise, you name it, I've tried it! All to not much avail, surgery helped the most, reduced seizures the most, but as always can go short time, they return again. Side effects are hard, especially when the seizures return. However here lately have had so many, I'm scared. Alas...what shall I do?

I been on meds for almost 57 years ,I had the chance to get a VNS so I got it.It does work But you need to get meds to adjust to it ,this takes a little time but it the end is a good thing ! If u think the surgery will help go for it !,but keep it touch so I know how u are doing ! Take care!

I tryed all that too ,so went to another Neurologist & he had a VNS put in ,in helps to know when a seizure is coming & u maybe albe slow it down or stop it,this not brain surergy I am now seizure free 1st time in 53 yrs ! this the 1 st yr ever. You may never be seizure free ,BUT most likely you will be good like I am! You might be on meds with the VNS ,I also get a service after the VNS!!!GOOD LUCK

My suggestion would be to visit your Doctor or Neurologist and get more advice... Discuss your feelings and take it further depending on their advice... Rather be safe!

I have been on medication now for 42 years, and never had the chance to go for surgery... If it will help for the future, perhaps consider another operation?
