I've had epilepsy since 2001, I have complex partial seizures. They are really restraining and the medications are worsening from the side effects. Currently I take vimpat and lamictal. I'm tired, forgetful, and still having seizures. I saw articles speaking of cannabis oil for treatment and I want to try that route. My doctor shot the idea down before I could finish the proposition. Would it help me any?
Hey there,
I have the same types of seizures that you do. I've tried 6 AED meds including the ones you have posted. I was having 20-50 side effects on each of the meds. They make life 10 times worse than without. Before all this happened I was working in the medical field. The doctors get kickbacks from all these drugs they are giving us. I have been using cannibals to help me with my seizures and all of it's effects. I can say that I think it is the best thing for me so far. I do a ton of research on it and it's helping out a ton of people as well. Be careful, it sounds like your body may be resistant to the drugs as well. They made it to where I could barely function. I hope this helps and I would love to help out more if I can.
Take care,
Mark
Hi Sarina,
Sounds like you have a stubborn uninformed Neurologist. A number of them are that way. Many of us here on this site have personal knowledge that a Specialist will never understand. You and Mark have seizures like me. I still have about 1000 seizures a year. I think I had one earlier today because I was so tired. That usually happens with complex partial seizures. I have tried cannabis but it was hard to find, there isn't enough grown to help all the many people with neurological conditions. When I tried it I did have fewer seizures but I needed more and I know cannabis high in CBD would have stopped them. CBD is Cannabidiol and is non psychoactive so you will not get loaded from it. THC is psychoactive and you will get loaded from that. There are three documentaries about the use of cannabis and how it can help people with a number of different neurological conditions. It is an actual medicine and I know how it works and how it stops seizures. Here is a link to the first documentary https://youtu.be/Dn9eTC1mNTk made by Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He is a Neurosurgeon and didn't believe it worked until he saw it with his own eyes. Watch that on YouTube and you will see it works. Their are two others "Weed 2" and "Weed 3" those are YouTube also you can watch all three and you will see cannabis working for people with a number of different conditions. When I tried cannabis that was higher in CBD than THC I didn't have any side affects from it at all.
I so so so agree with you about the side effects and doctors get their piece of the pie. You take the words right out my mouth. It makes me angry that they're willing to put me through this for their financial benefits. They'd never do it to a loved one. Disgusting!
Exactly. I've tried it under the table and it mellowed me out. My spells spark up from various types of stress. This past year has been rough. I just want to do it the right way, I don't like feeling sneaky.
It is the ONLY thing that works for my TLE. I had every type of seizure from simple partial to generalized. Over the last nine years we've tried all possible AED's with no lasting success. I rarely smoke cannabis and my medicine is in oils and tinctures which I take orally.
