Anyone Have Siezures With Eye Symptoms, Paralysis And Vomiting?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

About a year ago, I started having episodes of distorted vision where I would have trouble focusing or double vision. Sometimes this would last for hours, sometimes it would be followed my paralysis and severe vomiting. Docs are baffled, some are in the migriane camp, some are in the siezure camp. I did notice that they became less frequent since increasing lamictal dosage. Anyone have similar symptoms, or any suggestions?

Hey NiaStevens,
Thanks so much for your response. When I get these episodes its either in one or both of my legs, I'm honestly not really sure- I feel so out of it I just know that my legs aren't working properly. I'm up to 700mg at night, and I think it's helped, I don't get as many of these.

Whenever I ask my neurologist about ANYTHING that doesn't fit classic symptoms, I get a non-committal answer, that's my local doc anyway. I also see three neurologists at Mayo Clinic- a migraine guy and a seizure guy, so I got one of each respective theories. Ugg. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but its nice to know I'm not alone. I actually see my local neurologist tomorrow, but I'm so frustrated with the lack of help or even effort I don't plan on going over these symptoms again with him.

What kind of epilepsy do you have? I have right and left TLE that can generalize. If it is epilepsy, some crazy complex-partial? Lol, it almost seems like I get more answers from medical research websites (I'm a neuro-psych student, so I can at least get the gist of the studies) and other patients!
Thanks again for your comment!
Best of luck
Nikki

I actually have periods of time, days to a week, where my vision is horrible. I actually have to wear glasses in order to read during that time. I do not know why this occurs, but I have been able to manage it.
