Aptiom Is My Newest Great Drug. How Is Anyone Else Doing With It?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have taken a lot of different medications for my seizures, one or two at a time. Aptiom was added about 3 years ago and has really helped me. How about the rest of you? Is anyone else using it? How well are you doing? I am curious because usually a medicine lasts just about 3 years before I have to start looking for something else.

I take Lamictal, Keppra, Klonipin, Gabapentin, Aptiom, and just got off of Topamax. I'm not doing well on Keppra so my neurologist put me on Aptiom to slowly get me off Keppra. I have so many side effects I don't know what med or med combination is causing what. Dizziness, balance issues, memory loss, sweating horribly for no reason, exhaustion, loss of motivation, depression, irritability, loneliness, anger, crying a lot.. I'm just so sad. Where is normalcy?

I just started taking Aptiom, so far so good I'm not sure if it's better to take it at night or in the AM. I was taking topamax but it made my hair fall out and it stop working :(

I'm currently taking Lamictal, and this past week I began coming off of Aptiom to begin an increase in Lyrica. I've talked to several different people who have had great success with Aptiom but it did not work out for me. Aptiom created a huge issue with my balance and dizziness. But I hope and pray that Aptiom continues to work for you in the best way possible!

I have to be careful to take Aptiom at night when I know I will be in bed in a few hours. I can't take it in the daytime. That was the very first adjustment I had to make. I also have to be careful because my balance is not as good as it was.

I'm taking Lamictal and have been taking it since I was a baby. I am also taking Topamax and Keppra.
